If your kind of a phone techie like me, when it comes time to get another device, you want to make the best decision you can to get your money's worth. Sometimes with the variety of choices that we have at our disposal, it can make those choices really tough. One thing I like to do match up features. Thats always helped me seal the deal on my next phone.
Right now I have the Droid 1. To put it simply I love this phone, but now my Verizon upgrade has come around so its time to pick something new. My choice for my next upgrade is the Droid X. I came to this conclusion rather easy. You see, my friends are all phone techies too and while the D1 was the original kick butt machine, compared to 1ghz era of phones like the HD2, EVO 4G, Iphone 4 and even the Galaxy S, its hard for the D1 to compete, especially if your not rooted either (I was the guy too scared to brick his phone for fear of not knowing how to do it.) The Droid X though blows those phones out of the water and this is were the features come in.
I got a complete list of features from Motorola.com and I could talk about my love for this phone all day, but the major features I love are as follows:
1) 3G Mobile Hotspot
2) The 4.3 inch screen
3) Battery Life
4) HDMI out from the camera
5) 1ghz processor
These features sealed the deal for me personally and this phone is a juggernaut when it comes to the things this phone can do. I loved how big the screen was but how thin the phone was. Not real bulky but real sexy in its design. The HDMI out for the phone was crazy too. To be able to watch videos and movies from my phone to my tv would be awesome. The battery life is one of the best in the business. I wouldnt have to constantly charge my phone like other phones and I was just happy it had a 1ghz processor on it.
This phone completely destroys the Iphone 4 in terms of features and screen size alone, and it definitely outlasts any of the Galaxy S phones (poor power hungry SuperAMOLED screens lol). I would compare it to the HD2, which does have a dual booting system which allows it to load up Android and iOS....but if your going by a Windows phone just to do that, you might as well have gotten an Android device to being with. The EVO and the X are very similar but once again battery life saves the day for the X.
All in all, next week will be my last week on the D1. It gave me alot of fun experiences with the Google OS and I had no problems with the phone itself. Sometimes its hard to move on, but I just got to get my hands on that X.
