Good News: HTC Thunderbolt Gains Root Access

If your looking for another reason to use your upgrade from Verizon or use all the lunch money you saved to prepare for the release of the HTC Thunderbolt, then here's another definitely good reason to get it. The good folks at XDAforums have managed to do something that most of us Android users have been hoping for since we got wind of all the new phones coming out this year. They have rooted the phone!

XDA has successfully cracked open on of the premier 4G phones of the year gaining access to the internal memory, increasing the already beastly power by way of overclocking, and successfully installed Clockwork Recovery to the phone. This is great news, but I do have to say that the phone was a pre-production model. What that means is that there could still be changes made that could slow up the root process for the phone. That doesn't mean we have to be too worried about the Thunderbolt actually being rooted. Remember, the Droid X was rooted in a few weeks after its release when everyone thought it would be impossible to do it.

I have to say though that I'm definitely happy that there are people out there willing to defy the odds and crack these phones open for us to get the full enjoyment that we all pay for. Thank you guys. Check out the proof of the root access after the break provided by the Android Police.
