Verizon's First Call Over LTE Successful!

Hooray! Good news indeed to all Verizon/Android users. Now we have another reason to laugh at iPhone users still trapped on AT&T. 02/08/2011 is that date that marks the first successful call made over the Verizon 4G LTE network. The place, Basking Ridge, NJ, is the location. Two Verizon employees in the area placed the call and it was successful!

There is a discrepancy with the time though. Pcworld reported that the time was only 33 seconds whereas PRnewswire.com reported that the call lasted 10 minutes. Considering that during the test call, the two employees also tested downloading apps, browsing the web, and using chat apps during the phone call, I would definitely go with the 10 minute mark.

This is definitely a plus. Oh, and did I mention that the phone that these guys got to test the 4G VoLTE with? The LG Revolution! That phone is on the horizon even as we speak. This could become an issue for Apple and there coveted iPhone. Since they're most outstanding battle point is the face that they can do data over voice calls. Look out Apple, that number 1 spot is looking rather unstable right about now.
