Motorola XOOM priced at $1,199.99?

Seems a bit much for a tablet expecting to go toe to toe with the iPad, but Best Buy has posted that the price tag is accurate for the new Honeycomb powered tablet. Android 3.0 is the premier OS that will be featured on the tablet and its hoped that the Android tablet will be in direct competition with the Apple's iPad.

If you compare the pricing for the iPad though, even the highest priced iPad (the 64GB with Wifi only) is only priced at $699.99. That's a $500 difference in pricing. There is also speculation of the new iPad 2 and 3 possibly coming later this year but even so, with a price tag like that, it will make it hard to purchase for the average consumer. With a price tag like that, you could also get a good notebook too.

I hope that the price posted isn't going to remain that way. I personally was looking to get my hands on this device.
